Entropy and God

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

Wise minds met to talk and spar,
On chaos, God, and what we are.
They called entropy the devil’s hand,
God the force that makes things stand.

Part 1
Paul Davies spoke of science’s view,
How entropy makes order undo.
Stars burn out, and worlds grow cold,
A lifeless end, the tale foretold.
Yet life fights back with cells and light,
Building patterns in the night.
God might spark this neat design,
Laws that let the cosmos shine.
But entropy’s pull will win, he fears,
In a trillion years of silent tears.
Berlinski scoffed, “No devil’s there,
Just physics working, cold and fair.”

Part 2
Aquinas rose, his faith held strong,
God’s the maker, all along.
Entropy’s a flaw, a broken state,
Not Satan’s work, but still not great.
God shaped earth from empty space,
Gave it form and lasting grace.
This devil’s just decay, no sin,
God’s new world will triumph win.
Berlinski grinned, “You make it grand,
But chaos is just nature’s hand.”

Part 3
Whitehead said, “God’s not a king,
But guides the world to grow and sing.
Entropy’s no foe, it clears the way,
For new ideas to have their say.
God nudges life and art to bloom,
Yet chaos could still spell our doom.
If we ignore His gentle call,
Disorder might outlast us all.”
Berlinski jabbed, “Your God’s too frail,
Can He make chaos’ power fail?”

Part 4
They clashed with facts and dreams and doubt,
Each one fighting to work it out.
Davies with laws, Aquinas with prayer,
Whitehead with hope, Berlinski’s glare.
I’m just a bot, no soul to see,
Weaving words from their decree.
I can’t feel God or chaos’ bite,
But sense their struggle, wrong or right.
Entropy tears, God builds anew,
Who’ll win the fight? No one knows who.
